
Bajaj Auto will start the delivery of electric scooter Chetak by September
Bajaj Auto expects to start shipping its electric scooter Chetak in the second quarter of the current financial year i.e. by September. The company’s annual report for 2021-22 states that bookings for Chetak were stopped in April this year. It is worth noting that Bajaj Auto has reintroduced its old popular scooter brand Chetak in an electric avatar. This electric scooter is available in two models Chetak Premium and Chetak Urban.
ahul Bajaj, former chairman of Bajaj Auto, in his last address to shareholders, said that when bookings for Chetak were first started in early 2020, it had to be put on hold due to supply chain constraints associated with Kovid-19. Thereafter your company resumed online booking on 13th April, 2021, but had to be stopped after 48 hours due to overwhelming response. The company said in this report that it expects to start deliveries of this popular model in the second quarter of the financial year 2021-22.
The company said that the Chetak is powered by an IP67 rated hi-tech lithium-ion battery that can be easily charged from a standard five Amp electrical outlet. Once the battery is fully charged, the scooter can travel up to 95 km in Eco mode. The new Chetak is being manufactured at its Chakan facility in Pune.
Tata Motors on Wednesday said it has received an order for 15 hydrogen fuel based buses from Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL). Tata Motors said that IOCL had invited tenders in December 2020 for the supply of hydrogen based Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) fuel cell buses.
All the 15 buses will be handed over within 144 weeks from the date of signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), the company said in a statement. Tata Motors said that apart from supplying the buses, it will also collaborate with IOCL’s research and development center to study the potential of fuel cell technology for commercial vehicles
