Jio’s 5G service: Testing coverage complete in 1000 cities, service testing from cloud gaming, TV streaming to hospitals

Jio has started testing 5G telecom devices to launch 5G services in around 1000 cities. During this time, consumption and revenue expectations of target customers were built using heat map, 3D map and ray-tracing technology. The Reliance company has said in its annual report that Jio has taken several steps to prepare itself for 5G services in the financial year 2021-22.

The company said that Jio has also tested the services connected with 5G technology at the ground level. Augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), cloud gaming, TV streaming, hospital and industry applications were considered.

Airtel, the second largest telecom company, announced the launch of 5G services in the country this month. For this the company has also signed agreements with Ericsson, Nokia and Samsung. On the other hand, Jio has also indicated to launch 5G network service across the country on August 15.

Gopal Vitthal, MD and CEO of Airtel said, the company will work with the best technology partners across the world and bring the full benefits of 5G connectivity to the country’s customers. Reliance Jio is the highest bidder in the recent 5G spectrum auction. Of the Rs 1.50 lakh crore bids, Jio alone bid Rs 88,078 crore. According to the Department of Telecom, the 5G spectrum service will increase the download speed by 10 times compared to 4G and the capacity of the spectrum will also increase by almost three times.
